Understanding the Selection Process for the Super Lawyers List
Candidates for the Super Lawyers award must go through an intensive, 4-step screening process. They must show a high degree of professional excellence, as well as an unwavering dedication to ethical standards. It is estimated that only about 5% of attorneys are selected to the Super Lawyers list, and only about 2.5% are selected for the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list (reserved for those who are under the age of 40 or who have been in legal practice for less than 10 years).
The 4-step selection process involves:
- Nomination
- Independent research
- Peer evaluation
- Final selection
Candidates are prohibited from campaigning for this title. They must be nominated by peers, in-house members of the Super Lawyers research team, or by third-party feedback or a managing partner survey. Once nominated, candidates will be evaluated based on 12 different factors. These include their verdicts and settlements, scholarly lectures and writings, years of experience, bar and professional activity, and other honors and recognition. After this phase is complete, each candidate will be reviewed and rated by members of the Blue Ribbon panel. Only those who display the highest degree of professional achievements, success, and client satisfaction will be eligible for inclusion in the Super Lawyers list.
This is not the first time our attorneys have been recognized by the Super Lawyers organization. Attorney Cohn is a 7-year honoree, with 5 years in the Super Lawyers list and 2 years in the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. Furthermore, Attorney Swartzon is a 10-year honoree, with 5 years in the Super Lawyers list and 5 years in the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.
